Job Title: Assembly Technician
Location: Wilmington, NC | On-Site

Duration: 6 months with possible extension

Shift : Monday–Friday | 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM | Occasional overtime available

Top 3 Skills

• Mechanical assembly from engineering drawings, including first-time builds with no established process to follow
• Parts procurement, vendor coordination, and order tracking
• Self-directed work ethic — able to take a task, figure it out, and execute with minimal hand-holding

What You'll Do

• Source quotes from vendors and coordinate with purchasing to get orders placed accurately and on time
• Track open orders, follow up with vendors, and flag delivery or spec issues before they become problems
• Receive and inspect incoming parts, verifying against purchase orders and drawings
• Stage hardware kits and prep parts ahead of machine builds
• Assemble machines and subassemblies from engineering drawings — some of these builds will be first-time assemblies with no prior reference
• Read and interpret mechanical and assembly drawings to confirm correct parts and proper build sequence
• Support lab organization, tool inventory, and general upkeep of shop and lab spaces

What We Need From You

• Ability to read mechanical and assembly drawings — you'll use this every day
• Comfortable with common hardware, fasteners, and hand/power assembly tools
• Detail-oriented and able to follow both written and verbal instructions precisely
• Self-starter who can work independently and take ownership without being directed at every step
• HS diploma or equivalent; technical certificate, associate degree, or 4+ years of relevant hands-on experience

Bonus If You Have

• Experience reading electrical schematics or performing basic low-voltage wiring
• CAD experience — Autodesk Inventor or similar
• Prior involvement in vendor management, purchasing, or supply chain coordination
