Electrical Maintenance Technician
- High school diploma and Vocational diploma; or High School diploma and apprentice experience. * Note: Degrees and hours must be from a college accredited by a US Department of Education accepted accrediting agency such as SACSCOC . *
- Three years commercial electrical experience.
- Valid Driver’s License with a driving record in good standing
- Electrical license
- Five (5) years of commercial electrical experience
- Install wiring and conduit systems for newly installed machines and equipment
- Replace bulbs and ballasts
- Run new circuits
- Pull telephone and computer wires
- Check and maintain all types of light fixtures and outlets
- Inventory and maintain stock of electrical item.
- Troubleshoot malfunctioning equipment such as transformers, circuit breakers, motors, and lighting fixtures and replace damaged or broken parts, wiring or cables
- Assist other trades as necessary
- Operate different types of lifts to perform electrical work
- Operate a forklift, with training
- Subject to be on call for emergencies
- Assist with snow removal
- Other duties may be assigned.
LANGUAGE SKILLS :
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
- Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
- Ability to deal with problems involving several variables in standard and non-standard situations
- The employee will need to regularly operate and use computers, phones and other electronic equipment
- The employee will frequently communicate and must be able to exchange accurate information with others
- The employee may need to move around their office and/or campus to attend meetings, classes and to access files, machinery or other job-related tools
- The employee may need to lift and/or move equipment, tools or paperwork up 75 pounds
- The employee may need to position themselves by reaching, stooping, kneeling or crouching in order to adjust or collect equipment and/or supplies
- Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus
- Encounters low to moderate noise levels in the work environment.
