Working in a Progressive Care (Stepdown) setting here means expanding your clinical capabilities alongside teams who utilize a range of advanced technologies, including EPIC EMR, Alaris pumps, and Omnicell systems. You’ll care for patients with diverse diagnoses such as stroke, heart failure, respiratory illnesses, and post-cardiac catheterizations, building expertise that will make your resume truly stand out.

Expect a hands-on role with supportive resources including CNAs, a 24/7 hospitalist team, resource nurses, and virtual intensivists after hours. Exposure to varying nursing leadership styles and workflow models through required regional floating between hospitals elevates your adaptability and strengthens your ability to thrive in diverse care environments. Orientation sets you up for success with both New Employee Orientation and a focused, two-day unit intro.

Schedule/Hours:

  • Weekend rotation: every other weekend
  • No on-call requirements for travelers
  • Holiday expectations: 75% of holidays

Qualifications:

  • Active RN license
  • Minimum 18 months PCU RN experience
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications
  • Solid foundation in PCU skillset: cardiac rhythm interpretation, stroke care, drips management (insulin, nitroglycerin, diltiazem, etc.), airway management, IV starts, and post-operative care
  • Flexibility to float within regional hospitals as needed

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality care in an 11-bed stepdown unit, patient ratio 1:3-4
  • Independently manage critical drips, blood products, and a variety of tubes and devices
  • Collaborate closely with interdisciplinary teams
  • Document using EPIC EMR
