Med/Surg RN Job Details – Wilmington, NC

• Location: Wilmington, NC 28401 (North Carolina nursing jobs)
• Setting: Neuro Medicine Unit (Medical Surgical focus)
• Assignment Type: Locum Tenens / Travel Nurse Contract
• Start Date: August 25, 2025
• End Date: February 23, 2026
• Duration: Up to 26 weeks
• Shift: Night shift, 12-hour shifts (18:45 – 07:15)
• Hours per Week: 36 or 48 (overtime after 48 hours)
• Estimated Weekly Salary Range: $1700-$1750
• Patient Ratio: 1:6
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Float Requirement: Yes, travelers float first
• Orientation: 24 hours
• Scrubs: Navy Blue

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina or compact state (required at start)
• Minimum 2 years of recent Med/Surg RN experience in a hospital or healthcare setting
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications (American Heart Association preferred)
• Successful completion of EKG testing prior to start
• Strong teamwork skills and commitment to patient safety
• Ability to float to other nursing units as needed
• Willingness to serve on Storm/Hurricane Team during catastrophic events
• Preferred: NIHSS certification, neuro nursing experience, and/or charge nurse experience

Med/Surg RN Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care to adult and geriatric patients with general medicine and neuro diagnoses
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including IV, PT, RT, and pharmacy
• Utilize Pyxis, EPIC, and SBAR for medication administration, documentation, and communication
• Float to other medical-surgical or neuro units as required based on census and skill set
• Participate in unit orientation and ongoing clinical training modules
• Maintain compliance with hospital policies, including fatigue and holiday requirements
• Demonstrate leadership and support, including willingness to learn or perform charge nurse duties
