Systems Engineer - Charlotte, NC
About the Role
We are seeking a versatile and experienced Systems Engineer to join our team and support a wide range of on-prem and cloud-based environments. This role is responsible for implementing, managing, and maintaining server hardware, enterprise systems, and business-critical software across multiple corporate offices, service centers, distribution centers, and remote customer environments. You will work with both Windows and Linux systems and contribute to our Azure and AWS cloud platforms. Travel will be required approximately 10% of the time for onsite system deployments and support.
Key Responsibilities
- Deploy, configure, and maintain new server hardware and enterprise systems across on-prem and cloud environments.
- Manage and support existing systems, applications, and services, ensuring optimal performance, security, and stability.
- Administer Windows Server and Linux systems, including patching, upgrades, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
- Implement and maintain systems and applications within Azure and AWS environments, including virtual machines, storage, identity, and networking components.
- Support system integrations with on-prem networks, cloud resources, and customer environments.
- Collaborate with Network Engineers to ensure seamless operation across all infrastructure layers.
- Participate in change-management processes and adhere to documentation standards for configurations, diagrams, and standard operating procedures.
- Assist with backup, disaster recovery, and high-availability strategy implementation.
- (Bonus) Support Splunk administration, implementation, or ongoing management
Qualifications
- 3–5+ years of professional experience as a Systems Engineer or similar role.
- Strong hands-on experience with Windows Server and Linux systems (installation, configuration, updates, and troubleshooting).
- Experience deploying and maintaining server hardware in rack-mounted, virtualized, and cloud environments.
- Working knowledge of Azure and/or AWS services related to compute, networking, storage, identity, and security.
- Experience with virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V, or similar).
- Familiarity with system monitoring tools, logging platforms, and configuration auditing.
- Understanding of Active Directory, group policy, DNS, DHCP, and identity management concepts.
- Strong documentation, communication, and troubleshooting abilities.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel up to 10%.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus.
- Automation or scripting skills (PowerShell, Bash, Python).
- Splunk administration or implementation experience is a strong bonus.
- Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code or cloud automation tools.
