K-4 ESL / ML Teacher

Job Title: Elementary ESL/ML Teacher

Location: Corvian Elementary School

Reports to: Principal

Position Overview:

Corvian Elementary School is seeking a dedicated and student-centered ESL/ML Teacher to support the academic and social success of multilingual learners. The ESL/ML Teacher will provide language development instruction, collaborate with classroom teachers, and help foster an inclusive environment that values linguistic and cultural diversity.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide direct English language instruction to elementary students identified as multilingual learners (MLs/ELLs).
• Develop and implement engaging lessons that build proficiency in listening, speaking, reading, and writing in English while supporting grade-level content.
• Collaborate with classroom teachers to differentiate instruction and integrate language objectives into core content areas.
• Administer and interpret language proficiency assessments (e.g., WIDA ACCESS, W-APT, or state equivalents) and use data to guide instruction.
• Monitor and document student progress; maintain accurate records in compliance with federal, state, and district requirements.
• Communicate regularly with families of multilingual learners, providing updates on progress and strategies for supporting learning at home.
• Advocate for multilingual learners and contribute to a school culture that embraces diversity, equity, and inclusion.
• Participate in professional development to stay current with best practices in language acquisition and culturally responsive teaching.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Education, ESL, TESOL, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
• Current teaching license with ESL/ESOL/ML endorsement (or eligibility for licensure in North Carolina).
• Experience working with elementary students in diverse educational settings.
• Strong knowledge of second language acquisition, sheltered instruction, and culturally responsive teaching practices.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
