Role Snapshot
Thomas & Hutton is seeking a Civil Site Development Project Manager to lead land development and infrastructure projects across the Charlotte region. This role requires strong technical expertise in water, sewer, storm drainage, grading, and overall site development—paired with client-facing communication and project leadership. Ideal for a PE who can manage multiple projects, coordinate multidisciplinary teams, and deliver high-quality, on-schedule work.
Position Overview
This Project Manager will oversee design and delivery for a wide range of civil site development projects. Responsibilities include scope and fee development, managing schedules and budgets, coordinating cross-discipline engineering efforts, and supervising technical staff. The ideal candidate blends strong technical capability with business acumen and the ability to work directly with clients and internal teams.
Key Responsibilities
Manage one or multiple civil site development projects for various clients.
Prepare proposals, scopes of work, and fee development packages.
Visit clients, job sites, and consultant offices to support project and BD needs.
Monitor scope, schedules, budgets, deliverables, and performance metrics.
Coordinate engineering work with environmental, structural, survey, and landscape architecture teams.
Develop project scopes and effectively communicate/coordinate execution plans.
Supervise engineers and technicians as needed.
Track project progress through Vision/Microsoft Project (intermediate/advanced proficiency).
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
Registered Professional Engineer (PE).
6+ years of experience in public and private-sector civil site design.
Experience with water, sewer, and storm drainage infrastructure design.
Advanced understanding of engineering principles, techniques, and practices.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Working experience with AutoCAD; Civil 3D preferred.
Proven ability to manage multiple complex projects.
Understanding of business financials (project budgets, forecasting, metrics).
Experience interacting directly with clients.
Business development experience.
Preferred Qualifications
LEED accreditation.
Experience leading multidisciplinary project teams.
Demonstrated success delivering projects on schedule and within budget.
