Location: Burlington, ON
Reports To: VP of Human Resources
Salary: $110-130k + bonus and RSP matching
Position Summary
The People & Culture Manager will play a key leadership role in fostering a positive, high-performance workplace culture within a heavy manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for overseeing day-to-day human resources operations, supporting employee engagement, talent development, and ensuring compliance with employment laws and company policies. Partnering closely with the VP of HR and site leadership, the People & Culture Manager will drive initiatives that strengthen organizational effectiveness, employee well-being, and long-term talent retention.
Key Responsibilities
Employee Engagement & Culture
Champion a culture of safety, respect, accountability, and continuous improvement across all levels of the organization.
Develop and implement programs that enhance employee engagement, satisfaction, and retention.
Act as a trusted advisor and coach to employees and managers on workplace culture and employee relations.
Talent Management & Development
Partner with leaders to identify workforce needs, succession planning opportunities, and employee development strategies.
Oversee recruitment efforts for key roles, ensuring alignment with business needs and company values.
Manage onboarding and training programs to ensure a positive new-hire experience and continuous development opportunities.
Employee Relations & Compliance
Provide guidance and support in resolving employee relations issues, ensuring fairness, consistency, and compliance with legislation.
Monitor and ensure adherence to employment standards, health and safety regulations, and company policies.
Support labor relations, including grievance resolution and contract interpretation (if applicable in unionized environments).
HR Operations & Strategy
Partner with the VP of HR to implement HR strategies and initiatives aligned with overall business goals.
Oversee performance management processes, ensuring effective feedback, goal setting, and coaching practices are in place.
Collect and analyze HR metrics to recommend improvements in areas such as turnover, absenteeism, and employee satisfaction.
Ensure HR systems, records, and processes are maintained accurately and confidentially.
Job Requirements
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (CHRP/CHRL designation an asset).
7+ years of progressive HR/People & Culture experience, preferably within manufacturing or heavy industry.
Strong understanding of HR best practices, employment law, and health & safety legislation.
Demonstrated experience in employee relations, engagement, and talent management.
Proven ability to influence and build strong relationships at all levels of the organization.
Excellent communication, coaching, and problem-solving skills.
Strong organizational skills and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
