SUMMARY
While under direct supervision and guidance, responsibilities will include installing equipment, repairing and replacing units, preventative maintenance, and maintaining equipment, building piping and electrical systems. Participate in complete root cause analysis of system breakdowns and implement corrective actions for long term prevention. The Apprentice responds to production requests for action and resolution of issues. Maintain documentation records and create requisitions for supplies to ensure proper inventory to maintain equipment. Ensure that work is performed according to safety policies and procedures. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES But not limited to: • Maintains equipment based on established preventative/predictable maintenance program as assigned by supervision and department leadership. • Assist maintenance team members in troubleshooting activities for mechanical, electrical and electronic failures on equipment, machines or facility related systems. • Assist in repairs as directed by supervision and direction on mechanical and electrical systems. • Assist with all lean based activities/systems of the predictable maintenance program such as vibration analysis, oil analysis, 5s, SMED, etc. • Participates in continuous improvement events such as TPM, kaizen, etc. • Assist in ensuring critical spare parts are inventoried and replaced when necessary and ensures that all spare parts are in good working condition once returned to stock. • Monitor and/or assist vendors, contractors, OEM service techs as assigned and ensure compliance of all safety policies from all visitors. • Assist in project management as directed by supervision. • Ensure all recordkeeping of documentation, PM’s, service reports, etc. are maintained for work provided including TPM collection, recordkeeping, and disbursement as necessary. • Utilize the PM and work order program as established to include data entry, inventory usage, and reporting, etc. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES No Supervisor responsibilities QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE HS Diploma or GED required. Basic understanding of manufacturing processes and abilities to take action based on standard practices. Fundamental knowledge of production machinery and equipment is a must. Prior experience demonstrating mechanical/technical ability and problem solving skills required. Must have basic understanding of mechanical, electrical hydraulic and pneumatic systems preferred. Familiarity with OSHA and EPA regulations and NEC code preferred. One year of KSC experience desired and course work completion in Industrial Maintenance, Advanced Integrated Manufacturing Systems (AIMS) or similar technical program preferred. LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, metric and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. REASONING ABILITY Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. Ambient temperatures may vary as the production area is largely not climate controlled and is dictated based on outside climate conditions and equipment operations. HEALTH AND SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES Associate must adhere to all safety rules and procedures. Bring unsafe acts and conditions to the attention of the manager/leadership/supervisor while also ensuring that other associates or visitors are exposed to unsafe conditions. Correct hazards and unsafe conditions. Train other associates in safe work practices. Investigate accidents, near-accidents, and potential hazards.
