Irrigation Technician
Element Outdoor Living is looking for an experienced Irrigation Technician to support both our Maintenance and Build divisions. This role is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, programming, and optimizing irrigation systems to protect landscapes, reduce water waste, and deliver a smooth, professional client experience.
This is a high-trust, high-skill position with autonomy, variety, and a strong impact on plant health, client satisfaction, and irrigation revenue.
What You’ll Be Responsible For
Irrigation Service & Optimization
Diagnose and repair irrigation issues (heads, valves, wiring, leaks, controllers)
Perform system audits for coverage, pressure, leaks, and efficiency
Monitor and adjust Hydrawise programming seasonally and proactively
Complete clean, professional repairs with minimal callbacks
Identify irrigation improvements and create clear repair/upgrade proposals
Build & Warranty Support
Support build teams with layout guidance, troubleshooting, and system corrections
Program and commission new irrigation controllers
Verify coverage and performance before project closeout
Assist with irrigation as-builts and documentation
Communication & Documentation
Document findings, repairs, and recommendations clearly
Close loops with Field Managers, CRMs, and Warranty
Provide clean internal handoffs and job notes
Educate clients when needed on basic controller use
Inventory & Materials
Maintain organized irrigation inventory
Track parts usage and submit reorders proactively
Help reduce waste through accurate forecasting and ordering
Training & Leadership
Serve as a technical irrigation resource to crews and field leaders
Train teams on best practices, troubleshooting, and quality standards

Systems run efficiently with minimal runoff or plant stress
Proposals are clear, timely, and get approved
Inventory is accurate and organized
Install teams and managers trust your irrigation expertise
Clients experience “no surprises”
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or GED
2–3 years landscape maintenance experience
Strong irrigation troubleshooting and repair skills
Experience with Hydrawise (required)
Organized, detail-oriented, and self-directed
Strong professional communication skills
Comfortable using technology and job documentation tools
Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
Preferred (Not Required)
Irrigation certifications or manufacturer training
Experience supporting installs or system design
Experience managing irrigation across multiple properties
Familiarity with smart controllers beyond Hydrawise
Physical & Work Environment
Outdoor work in varying weather conditions
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
Frequent walking, bending, kneeling, and jobsite movement
Local travel between properties and projects
