: Posting Information Posting Number PG192853EP Internal Recruitment No Working Title IT Liaison for CVM Veterinary Hospital Anticipated Hiring Range Commensurate with experience Work Schedule Monday - Friday 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM Job Location Raleigh, NC Department College Of Veterinary Medicine About the Department The College of Veterinary Medicine's (CVM) Computing Resources unit is responsible for addressing the diverse IT needs for the CVM as a whole—this includes the Veterinary Hospital, Research areas, and departments, as well as academic classroom support. The current scope includes all faculty, staff, students, researchers, and administrators across the CVM. The Computing Resources Team must ensure the CVM is capable of successfully embracing the latest technologies and tools while maintaining the confidentiality and integrity of all IT processes and data. Essential Job Duties This position serves as an integral and effective IT liaison between the College of Veterinary Medicine's Veterinary Hospital Admin & staff and CVM IT. This role will be instrumental in the coordination, prioritization, and scheduling of tactical and strategic IT projects for our veterinary hospital involving CVM IT integration & support. Accordingly, the incumbent must possess expertise and knowledge specific to veterinary hospital services and functions as well as day-to-day processes/SOPs in order to be effective in this role. Primary duties include but are not limited to:
  • Consult with key stakeholders across core VH services/units, VH Admin, and CVM business units to determine application requirements, propose viable solutions, and actively incorporate client feedback into the VH IT portfolio. This will help to ensure essential hospital application/system business requirements are satisfied and result in valuable customer deliverables for all VH stakeholders. Chosen incumbent will influence the VH Technology Roadmap for the CVM and ensure that it aligns with the overall CVM IT infrastructure technology roadmap and service catalog.
  • A critical part of this role will be extensive collaboration with the VH Radiology service to provide Tier 2 PACS Administration support for the VH. This work is essential for imaging business continuity across all VH services that utilize the central RIS/PACS services. CVM IT can provide the necessary training for this work, but a basic knowledge of DICOM imaging and RIS/PACS system usage in a medical setting is highly desirable.
  • Web application programming knowledge (e.g., Coldfusion, PHP, Java, NodeJS, etc.) to support the development of VH-owned applications at the College is highly desirable. Programming duties will primarily involve customizations required to current VH applets (VHApps) and new applet creations when needed. Candidate must also understand the integration of web applications with a variety of backend database systems (Oracle, MySQL, MSSQL, etc.), although training will be provided by current CVM IT AppDev staff as needed.
Other Responsibilities
  • Must effectively and clearly articulate ongoing strategic/tactical hospital project initiatives—both verbally and in writing, while collaborating with multiple CVM and University departments/units (e.g., VH Administration, VH service units, CVM IT, Campus IT, NCSU Comtech, SAT, and CVM Administration).
  • Independently analyzes, assesses, and recommends various VH application enhancement solutions/updates and collaborates with the CVM IT AppDev Team for implementation.
  • Collaborates heavily with Director/Manager level staff across CVM academic units and frequently interacts with 3rd party hospital business/IT partners, account managers, and field service personnel.
Qualifications Minimum Education and Experience Bachelor's degree from an appropriately accredited institution in a discipline related to the area of assignment plus two years of project-based work experience in a medical setting; or equivalent combination of training and experience. Other Required Qualifications
  • Ability to work independently with little or no supervision.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Transparent communication with the CVM IT Director (supervisor), VH Administrator, VH Associate Dean, and CVM Dean is necessary for the position.
  • Must possess creative problem-solving skills in order to effectively translate VH business requirements into technical deliverables with minimal coaching or input.
