Materials Manager
- Directs purchasing and materials management team in executing daily operations and solving exceptions
- Implements and maintains a manage-by-exception approach to warehouse and purchasing operations, using dashboards, metrics, and reports to identify and address issues
- Maintains and improves inventory management performance by monitoring stockout rates, turns, and E&O
- Identifies/executes efficiency, optimization, and safety initiatives within relevant functions
- Reviews, maintains, and generates reports/dashboards, enforcing target metrics through direct feedback
- Ensures fluid exceptions processing, including expedite requests, item returns, and item repairs
- Ensures compliance with cycle/annual inventory count procedure/schedule
- Manage scheduling, work assignment, and training process for assigned team
- Maintains timely/accurate purchase pricing contracts for system-generated purchase orders
- Prepare instructions regarding purchasing and inventory control systems and procedures
- Analyzes market and delivery conditions to determine present and future material availability and prepares market analysis reports
- Reviews purchase order claims and contracts for conformance to company policy
- Monitors and arrangements for disposal of surplus materials
- Monitors dollar value inventory, turns, percentage of sales dollars in inventory, and other valuation amounts to assure inventory dollars are invested properly
- Monitors vendor rebate and incentive programs to assure the company takes advantage of cost-saving opportunities
- Monitors delivery, pricing, and other pertinent vendor negotiations (either in person or through subordinates) to ensure that the company receives the best value
- Analyzes non-inventoried purchases to ensure proper approvals are secured based on purchasing guidelines
- Plans for physical inventories to be administered by inventory control personnel
- Coordinates vendor-related information with appropriate departments
- Works closely with Product Management regarding products and vendor relationships
- Develops, implements, and monitors department operating policies and procedures that will ensure effective and efficient production while meeting company mission
- Prepares a quarterly departmental report, recapping notable activities of the previous quarter and planned activities for the upcoming quarter, including pertinent statistical data
- Plans, recommendations, and directs the implementation of the departmental budget
- Analyzes, approves and controls expenditures of department to conform to budgetary requirements
- Directly supervise employees in assigned departments.
- Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
