Industrial Ammonia Refrigeration Mechanic
A day in the life
Step onto the floor of our Monroe, NC facility and you’ll put your skills to work keeping our ammonia refrigeration systems running safely and efficiently. You’ll start by reviewing overnight maintenance logs, prioritize preventive tasks to reduce downtime, and move seamlessly between inspections, repairs, and documentation. Your day includes collaborating with teammates on safe work practices, applying Lockout/Tagout procedures, and using tools ranging from forklifts and pallet jacks to ladders and fall protection gear.
What you’ll do
- Install, service, and repair industrial refrigeration equipment, with a focus on ammonia systems.
- Perform routine inspections, troubleshooting, and diagnostics to maintain optimal performance.
- Complete preventive maintenance to extend equipment life and minimize unplanned outages.
- Accurately document all maintenance and repair activities.
- Work closely with peers to maintain a safe, efficient, and clean environment.
- Utilize forklifts, pallet jacks, ladders, fall protection, and Lockout/Tagout procedures.
- Keep current on refrigeration technology and industry best practices.
- Follow all safety protocols and regulatory requirements.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
What you’ll bring
- At least six (6) months of documented mechanic experience OR enrollment/completion of an industrial maintenance/refrigeration training program.
- Experience in ammonia refrigeration, general refrigeration, or HVAC strongly preferred.
- Rehire eligibility: after 90 days away and fewer than three prior terms of employment at this facility.
- 18 years of age or older.
- Valid identification.
- Comfort using basic hand tools and reading/understanding work assignments.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs., climb stairs up to 120 feet and ladders up to 60 feet, stand for extended periods, and work in hot, cold, and inclement weather.
