Assistant Controller
Reports To: Â Director of Finance
Position Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Assistant Controller/Senior Accountant with strong accounting expertise and a solid foundation in Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) to join our team. This hybrid role blends core accounting responsibilities with analytical support for budgeting, forecasting, and performance analysis. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, ensures financial accuracy, and contributes insights that support strategic decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting & Compliance
- Manage general ledger activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close
- Prepare accurate financial statements in compliance with GAAP
- Oversee accounts payable and receivable related to operations, sponsorships, and vendor contracts
- Support internal controls and coordinate with external auditors
FP&A & Strategic Support
- Assist with annual budgets and rolling forecasts
- Analyze actuals vs. budget and provide variance explanations to leadership
- Build financial models to evaluate sponsorship ROI, event profitability, and operational efficiency
- Partner cross-functionally to align financial planning with operational objectives
Reporting & Insights
- Deliver monthly and quarterly financial reporting with clear, actionable insights
- Develop dashboards and KPIs to track performance and cost management
- Provide ad hoc analysis to support leadership and strategic initiatives
Qualifications
- Bachelorâs degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA, CMA, or MBA preferred)
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including exposure to FP&A or financial analysis
- Strong knowledge of GAAP/IFRS and internal controls
- Advanced Excel skills and experience with ERP systems
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing priorities
