Worship Pastor (Director)
Part Time: Approx. 20 hours per week
Salary Package: $20,000-22,000 annually plus benefits (commensurate with experience)
Reports to: Senior Pastor
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The Part-Time Worship Pastor (or Director) leads all music and worship ministries of our church. Working closely
with the Senior Pastor, they help create gospel-centered, Spirit-led worship experiences that engage the
congregation and help believers to become fully formed disciples in Christ.
OUR CHURCH BACKGROUND:
Our church is a vibrant and growing congregation that blends a modern worship style with the richness and
deepness of multi-generational worship. Each Service opens with a song from our choir, followed by several
songs led by the Worship Team. We are blessed with a dedicated group of talented musicians and vocalists,
and our worship ministry continues to grow as we regularly welcome new members into our community.
POSITION-SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
Primary Responsibilities
• Worship Team and Planning: The bulk of this position’s time will be spent in two key areas –
oLeading the various aspects of the Worship Team (scheduling, rehearsals, sound checks, etc.) for
Sunday Services and occasional special events.
o Prayerfully planning the corporate worship direction and experiences for the church with
theological depth, sensitivity, and musical appropriateness.
• Music Ministry Leadership. Providing oversight and direction for the music ministries of our church.
o NOTE: All our teams/groups have strong volunteer leaders in place; this allows the Worship Pastor
to support and collaborate with those groups/leaders rather than manage every team directly.
• Team Building. Recruiting and training new musicians/leaders, while also caring for existing ones.
• Multimedia and Technology. Working closely with the volunteers who run our Media (multimedia) Team
for weekly services (sound technology, lighting, streaming, and ProPresenter).
• Budgeting. Overseeing the music ministry budgets, to include the purchasing, maintenance, and
replacement of all music-related equipment, supplies, instruments, and technology.
• New Opportunities. Working to develop new music ministries, events, opportunities, teams, ensembles, or
creative means to help invite and deepen the worship and growth of our people.

Beyond specific job responsibilities, we expect all staff to be healthy, engaged members of our church—
investing relationally, spiritually, and missionally. This role is not just a job, but a calling to lead, worship, and
grow alongside the congregation as a committed part of the body.
Personal Ministry Responsibilities
● Maintain an active discipline of personal prayer, disciple-making, devotion, evangelism, and ministry
● Live life above reproach and worthy of the calling they have received from God (1 Tim 3; Eph 4)
● Perform duties and responsibilities in a worthy manner that glorifies Christ and furthers the mission and
ministry purposes of Bethany Baptist Church (Col. 3:23-24)
● Actively seek professional/ministry development and growth
TIME REQUIREMENTS:
This position is considered part time (approximately 20 hours per week)
• Sunday Morning Worship Service and Sound Check/Set Up (must be available Sunday evenings)
• Weekly Worship Team rehearsal (as scheduled)
• Bi-Weekly staff meetings as assigned by the Senior Pastor
• Hours will be a blend of in-person and remote and are very flexible
• Each week there will need to be a dedicated time set aside for planning, organization, etc.
• Reaching out to volunteers, team members, and leaders (via text, in person meetings, calls, etc.)
• Attend/lead meetings, trainings, coaching sessions, or other events as needed
• Occasional special events, trips, activities for the church
• Qualified pastoral staff may be called upon to preach (though that will not be a big part of this position)
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
• While we view this role as a pastoral position, we are open to hiring at a director level based on the
candidate’s experience, calling, and qualifications.
• Biblical Character for the office of Pastor as described in Scripture (1 Tim 3, Titus 1, Eph 4 + 6:4, 1 Pet 5)
• Bachelor’s degree in a music ministry-related field
o OR non-ministry bachelor’s degree in music working toward a seminary degree
o OR working toward a bachelor’s degree in a music ministry-related field
• At least two years of experience leading worship (volunteer or paid) with a worship team/band in a
church or similar ministry setting
• Musical Proficiency: has a strong vocal ability and proficiency on a lead instrument (such as guitar or
keyboard); able to arrange instrumentation and music to suit the needs of both the worship team and
the congregation
• Technical Skills: familiarity with technology, software, and apps for worship presentation (e.g. Worship
Tools or similar planning programs, sound setup, pads, ProPresenter, etc.)
• Strong Communication Skills: communicates clearly and effectively with the worship team, pastor,
congregation, leaders, and volunteers
• Strong Organizational Skills: able to vision, plan, coordinate, and manage groups, rehearsals, occasional
special events, and weekly worship services
• Spiritual Discernment: has a strong sense of spiritual, social, and congregational awareness
• Works Autonomously: strong work ethic and does well setting personal schedules, goals, deadlines,
meaningful office time, meaningful remote work, etc.
• Able to teach deep truths of Scripture contextually and creatively (through music)
• Be teachable/coachable and a team player
• Willing to become a member of Bethany Baptist Church
