Med/Surg Tele RN Job Details

• Assignment Type: Locum tenens (travel nursing contract)
• Location: Winston Salem, NC 27103 (North Carolina nursing jobs)
• Unit: Med/Surg Telemetry – 9 North Tower
• Contract Duration: 17 weeks (October 6, 2025 – February 2, 2026)
• Shift: 12-hour days (06:45 – 19:15), 3 shifts per week
• Total Hours: 36 hours per week
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Float Requirement: Floating required within hospital and affiliate locations
• Unit Size: 30 beds, average daily census 29
• Orientation: 24 hours unit orientation plus hospital orientation in week one
• Scrubs: Navy Blue
• Self-Scheduling: Yes, confirmed by unit
• Estimated Weekly Salary Range: $1620 - $1660

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active NC or Compact Registered Nurse (RN) license (required at start)
• Minimum 2 years of recent Med/Surg Telemetry RN experience
• BCLS (Basic Life Support) certification
• NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification
• Ability to pass EKG testing prior to start
• Proficient in telemetry, dysrhythmia interpretation, and cardiac event management
• Experience with Epic charting system preferred
• IV start skills preferred
• Comfortable floating to other units as needed
• First-time travel nurses welcome

Med/Surg Tele RN Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality nursing care to adult and geriatric patients with diverse medical diagnoses
• Monitor, interpret, and manage telemetry and dysrhythmias; respond to cardiac events
• Initiate and manage IV lines, administer blood products, and provide central and peripheral line care
• Implement isolation precautions and non-invasive airway management as needed
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including IV, PT, respiratory, pharmacy, and social services
• Utilize Pyxis, EPIC, and SBAR systems for medication administration and documentation
• Participate in rapid response teams to ensure patient safety
• Float to other hospital units or affiliate hospitals based on census and skill set
