Production Planner

We are seeking a detail-oriented and driven Production Planner to join our metal manufacturing team. This role is responsible for coordinating and optimizing production schedules to ensure on-time delivery, efficient use of resources, and alignment with customer demand. The ideal candidate will have experience in a fabrication or metal manufacturing environment and a strong understanding of production flow, capacity planning, and inventory control.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain daily and weekly production schedules based on customer orders, forecasts, and inventory levels
• Coordinate with production, purchasing, and shipping teams to ensure smooth workflow and on-time delivery
• Analyze capacity, labor, and material availability to optimize production efficiency
• Monitor work-in-progress (WIP) and adjust schedules as needed to address delays or changes
• Communicate priorities and schedule updates to shop floor supervisors and leadership
• Track key performance indicators (KPIs) such as on-time delivery, lead times, and production efficiency
• Collaborate with purchasing to ensure raw materials and components are available when needed
• Support continuous improvement initiatives related to scheduling, planning, and workflow processes
• Maintain accurate data in ERP/MRP systems

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred
• 2+ years of production planning or scheduling experience in a metal manufacturing or fabrication environment
• Strong understanding of production processes such as welding, machining, laser cutting, and assembly
• Experience with ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP, Epicor, Oracle, or similar)
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and data analysis
• Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills
• Ability to multitask and adapt in a fast-paced manufacturing environment

Preferred Skills

• Experience with capacity planning and demand forecasting
• Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles
• APICS certification (CPIM) is a plus
