Your impact

We are currently searching for an Energy Solutions Engineering Intern to join our Energy Solutions Advisory team in Cary, NC. As part of our team, you’ll have the chance to work on projects that bring innovative solutions to our clients’ challenges locally and worldwide by providing a range of engineering services.

The energy industry is undergoing rapid and dramatic changes, transforming the utility landscape to enhance reliability and sustainability. In response, Jacobs is expanding its Energy & Power Solutions team to tackle the complexities of decarbonization and deliver a cleaner and more secure energy future. During your internship, you will be mentored by Professional Engineers while you engage with our clients, evaluate their energy needs, and develop concept-level plans and solutions. You’ll have the opportunity to use your theoretical knowledge and apply it to solving today’s challenges. Your primary responsibilities will focus on supporting project delivery as we continue to expand our project portfolio. By joining our team, you will take ownership of the completeness, accuracy and timeliness of the work assigned to you by demonstrating the ability to progress from basic assignments to more complicated and involved projects working in conjunction with a technical team.

This opening provides the opportunity to be meaningfully engaged with a range of energy advisory projects, including:

  • Energy master planning
  • Feasibility studies (techno-economic)
  • Data center power solutions
  • District Energy Systems
  • Renewable energy and storage solutions
  • Thermal power solutions

Prior design or consulting internships are highly regarded. Here's what you'll need

  • Currently enrolled in a degree-seeking program for Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy or related engineering discipline from an ABET- accredited program

Ideally, you’ll also have:

  • Familiarity or experience with:
    • 3D modeling software such as Revit, AutoCAD, CADWorx and NavisWorks
    • hydraulic modeling software such as Pipe-Flo or Pipe 2000
    • systems modeling software such as Thermoflow or Aspen/Hysys
  • Authorization to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship, now or in the future

Posted Salary Range: Minimum

52,000.00

Posted Salary Range: Upper

70,000.00

The base salary range for this position is $52,000.00 to $70,000.00; though will be paid hourly based on hours worked. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
