Marketing Assistant, New Market Development

Summary:

This position is part of the marketing team of Cotton Incorporated that works with global manufacturers, brands, and retailers to promote the use of cotton in non-traditional and nonwoven markets such as hygiene, household, beauty, and medical products. The position works at both tactical and strategic levels to implement a wide variety of marketing programs to expand cotton fiber use in nonwovens applications for industrial, institutional, and consumer product distribution channels like grocery, drugstore, and mass market retail. Core Functions:

• Assist with the development of data analysis, information, and materials (e.g., brochures, presentations, displays, etc.)

• Provide support for industry events, both materials and logistics

• Coordinate resources in support of the division’s efforts to work with external accounts

• Develop and coordinate website content for CottonWorks and other websites

• Assist with coordination of trademark licensing process and analysis

• Assist with development and coordination of trade advertising media plan

• Provide coverage for inquiries and assistance when the Director is not immediately available

• Contribute to the development of other marketing-related projects as assigned

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, or a related field 

• 3+ years of experience in marketing and/or business development support, trade advertising/media, as well as project management

• Knowledge of general business marketing concepts and strategies

• Knowledge of materials, nonwovens and/or textiles, a plus

• Strong organizational, communication, and writing/proofreading skills

• Ability to work independently or within a team to meet deadlines and/or accomplish goals

• Professional written and verbal communication (with a demonstrable quality of work)

• Strong project management and prioritization skills with ability to coordinate multiple projects or events simultaneously

• Ability to address various audiences and interact with multiple levels of people in person and across various communication platforms

• Strong work ethic with strict attention to detail

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (particularly Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint)

• This position requires domestic and international travel up to 10-15% of the time

Working Conditions / Physical Demands: 

• General office environment with quiet to moderate noise level

• Varied working conditions off-site due to travel

• Business casual dress clothes required

• Regularly required to sit and use hands to type and grasp, with frequent standing, walking, and bending/twisting at the neck/waist

• Occasionally required to push, pull, and reach above/below shoulder level

• Frequently required to lift and/or carry up to 50 pounds

• Frequently required to have face-to-face and telephone interaction with internal staff and external contacts

• Specific vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
