What you will be doing:

The Software Architect will have responsibility for the design of new or enhanced software products/technologies, the complex operations within the software products/technologies, and making different software products/technologies work well together

This position will specifically have responsibility for:
  • Domain blueprint/framework ownership and the associated technical roadmap (group of technologies or products).
  • Establishing guiding principles and design patterns to be used for a product or domain area.
  • Recommending technology choices to Principal Architect for vetting and approval.
  • Taking product/domain vision and translating that into the technical blueprint for the engineering team to build.
  • Making recommendations for new technologies.
  • Hands-on delivery on the team, in addition to providing coaching, oversight for senior/lead software engineers.
  • Implementing product vision
  • Being hands on with some coding/development as business need dictates.
This position will be accountable for product quality, adherence to architecture governance guidelines, and high-level design of their domain/product area. This position has full latitude for independent judgment when applying skills and problem-solving capabilities, with input and minimal oversight required by senior software architect or supervisor.

To be successful in this role, one must have experience in:
  • Strong Web, Desktop, and/or Cross Platform Application Development
  • High proficiency in .NET, Java, Python or other modern software languages
  • Good understanding and experience in SDLC Methodologies
  • Strong experience with Data Acquisition, APIs
  • Deep experience in the architecture and design of solutions to meet functional and non -functional requirements
Strong experience in Relational Database design and SQL development

Key Responsibilities

Responsibility #1– 75%

Software / Solution Design
• Development for stories of any size; routinely is involved in delivery of more complicated development efforts
• Crafts current and proposed future-state high level system designs
• Actively participates in solution design discussions
• Contributes to and influences business and product strategy
• Lead exploration and POC initiatives
• Initiating and leading process and technical improvements
• Assess current and future technologies
• Evaluate business and technology partners

Responsibility #2 – 20%

Mentoring/Coaching
• Provide mentorship and guidance to other members of the team to help increase their skills and enhance their ability to support project delivery
• Supports the team’s interactions with other teams within Premier to coordinate technical activities
• Participates in assessment of technical skillsets of less senior members of the team and conveys this information accurately to supervisor to help with staff development plans.
• Bring applicable technologies to team’s best practices
• Provide knowledge/SME of multiple Premier products or business domains (i.e. at least three)

Responsibility #3 – 5%

Governance
• Creates guidelines for technology implementations and promotes adherence to those guidelines across technology teams

  • Provide knowledge of Premier processes germane to the role

Working Conditions: Remote

Travel Requirements: Travel 1-20% within the US

Physical Demands: Sedentary: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves remaining stationary most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if movement is required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.

Premier’s compensation philosophy is to ensure that compensation is reasonable, equitable, and competitive in order to attract and retain talented and highly skilled employees. Premier’s internal salary range for this role is $113,000 - $188,000. Final salary is dependent upon several market factors including, but not limited to, departmental budgets, internal equity, education, unique skills/experience, and geographic location. Premier utilizes a wide-range salary structure to allow base salary flexibility within our ranges.
