By supporting accurate, timely compensation for people across a business that helps modernize and strengthen the grid, your work will contribute to the continuity and stability of essential energy projects and services. Role be based onsite Raleigh, NC.

You will lead year-end activities, collaborate with auditors, drive process enhancements, and support system upgrades and integrations. Along the way, you will deepen your knowledge of payroll technology—including ADP GlobalView and SAP—and gain exposure to process improvement work that fuels efficiency, accuracy, and modernization. This role gives you a meaningful platform to support people, refine systems, and shape payroll practices that help the organization operate effectively as it powers the energy transition.

  • Review and approve payroll calculations, adjustments, off‑cycle payments, and pay cards.
  • Ensure precise processing of wages, bonuses, garnishments, benefits deductions, taxes, and related payroll items.
  • Maintain payroll system data integrity and coordinate with external partners on configuration changes and troubleshooting.
  • Guide, mentor, and develop a payroll team, assigning workloads and supporting high-quality service for internal customers.
  • Oversee compliance with federal, state, and local requirements, and support audit activities through documentation and responses.
  • Lead year-end payroll tasks, including W‑2 review, reconciliations, and tax filings.
  • Support payroll-related projects such as system upgrades, integrations, and process documentation.
  • Responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Your Background

  • Candidate must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for Hitachi Energy in the United States.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field.
  • 10–15 years of payroll experience, including substantial experience supervising or leading a payroll team.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. federal and multi-state payroll laws and taxation.
  • Prior experience using large-scale payroll systems such as ADP GlobalView or SAP.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, ability to handle confidential information, and sound problem-solving capabilities.
  • (Preferred) Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) credential.
  • (Preferred) Experience in shared services or high-volume payroll environments and familiarity with process improvement approaches such as Lean or Six Sigma.
