Position Overview:
To apply actuarial expertise and data analytics to analyze complex datasets, identify trends, patterns, and insights, and develop actionable solutions that positively impact business decisions, Member services, productivity, quality, and performance. To establish data governance frameworks and the development of data quality initiatives to ensure accuracy, consistency, and reliability in reinsurance modeling, pricing, and risk evaluation.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES
Reporting and Analysis:
· Conduct loss analysis per line of coverage to determine loss trends per member and assess impact on premiums.
· Conduct quarterly financial analysis using integrated dashboards and report findings and actionable recommendations to the executive director.
· Conduct quarterly reports to claims, underwriting, accounting, member services, and management to enhance data driven strategies.
· Clean, transform and analyze large datasets from internal and external sources to identify trends, forecast losses, and support underwriting and strategic decision-making.
· Perform actuarial analyses to support pricing, reserving, and portfolio optimization. Assist with data collection, data entry, and preliminary analysis to support the development and maintenance of pricing to ensure consistency and alignment with actuarial methodologies and underwriting guidelines.
Project Management:
· Use quantified data reports to conduct a needs assessment to mitigate risk and provide recommendations of service offerings to Member Services.
· Create and manage dashboards and reports for internal and external stakeholders.
· Develop and maintain statistical models for risk assessment, pricing, and reserving and evaluate continuously to ensure accurate pricing model.
Lead the bordereau and true-up process in collaboration with underwriter and Members, ensuring accurate reconciliation of exposure and claims data.
Compliance and Quality:
· Ensure data integrity and compliance with industry standards and regulations. This includes quarterly loss reports from members, member questionnaires, and audit on new and existing claims reported through Riskonnect.
· Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, industry guidelines, and internal policies.
· Stay informed about industry developments and adjust processes accordingly.
· Review and analyze contracts and related claims documents.
Collaboration:
· Communicate findings and recommendations to executive leadership, members, and cross-functional teams.
· Work closely with cross-functional teams, including members, the CRL board, underwriting, legal, actuarial, and finance.
· Creates and maintain relationships with system vendors and acts as the primary contact.
· Participate and/or lead projects based as required/needed.
ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES
· Performs other duties as assigned.
· Travels as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Licensing
· Bachelor degree in accounting, computer science, finance or related field preferred required.
· Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) or AU certification preferred.
Experience
Five (5+) years of data analytics experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required. Must be highly proficient in excel. Broad insurance concepts preferred.
Skills & Knowledge
· Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formula-based, pivot tables, lookups, conditional logic, and data validation techniques.
· Advanced mathematical skills.
· Analytical and interpretive skills with strong attention to detail.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel, and claims management systems. Excellent oral and written communication skills, including presentation skills.
· Proficiency in working effectively in a team environment, when working independently and when working offsite or remotely.
· PC literate, including Microsoft Office and other system products.
· Excellent negotiation and communication abilities.
· Ability to meet or exceed Performance Competencies.
