Philadelphia and Eastern Pennsylvania’s union of hotel and food service workers is looking for an Office Manager . We are searching for someone with a deep commitment to the fight for worker justice. This role involves running the union office and administrative functions, including maintenance of dues records.
Position requires working with the President and Secretary-Treasurer to ensure proper administrative and financial functioning of the local including written and verbal communication with employers, receiving and tracking dues receipts from employers, managing vendors, answering phones, greeting and directing members and providing support for union events, along with many other responsibilities.
Role requires: ability to function independently and take initiative; ability to handle heavy workloads and busy environments; high level of responsibility and conscientiousness; excellent computer skills; ability to identify system needs and propose systems to create better functioning work environment.
- This role involves maintaining a well-functioning administrative system while working with an organizing staff engaged in the chaos of battles for worker justice. It is great for people who want to be in the middle of a movement. It is not great for people looking for a traditional and orderly office environment. This is a one person administrative team. The office manager interacts with a team of organizers and researchers in the local.
- Excellent computer skills required, especially facility with Excel, Word, electronic filing systems, Google Suite, QuickBooks.
- Ability to train and oversee other administrative staff when needed.
Salary dependent on experience. Minimum salary is $49,020/year under local pay scale. Experience levels determine actual pay rate. All pay rates are voted on by union membership.
