Job Title: Accountant (Contract)

Location (City, State): Waxhaw, NC

Pay: $26–$30 / hour

Job Description:

The Accountant will provide hands-on support to the finance team during a maternity leave coverage period. This role will focus on core accounting functions including month-end close activities, reconciliations, and financial reporting, while also serving as a point of contact for field locations with accounting-related questions. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, communicative, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, multi-entity environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist with month-end close processes, including journal entries and account reconciliations
• Perform daily and monthly bank and cash reconciliations
• Prepare and support balance sheet reconciliations and financial statements
• Communicate with branch locations to resolve accounting questions and discrepancies
• Investigate variances across multiple entities and support consolidated reporting
• Collaborate with internal finance team members to ensure timely and accurate reporting
• Maintain organized documentation and support audit or internal review requests

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience
• Strong Excel skills, including use of formulas and multi-sheet workbooks
• Experience with month-end close and reconciliations required
• Ability to analyze data, identify issues, and problem-solve independently
• Prior experience in financial services or public accounting is a plus, but not required
• Strong communication skills with the ability to work with remote or multi-location teams

Additional Details:

• Contract role through September
• Fully onsite position
• Schedule options: 8:00–5:00 or 8:30–5:30
• Reports into senior finance leadership
• Team environment with approximately 8 accounting professionals
• Systems include Sage 100 and Excel (some locations use different platforms)
