Summary of Position | The Quality and Clinical Informatics Coordinator position reports to the Quality Manager. The Coordinator is responsible for encouraging practices to explore the benefits, challenges, and opportunities in improving health outcomes and patient experiences. The Coordinator will work closely with practice staff, Providers, and Clinical Educators. Success as the Coordinator in the Quality and Informatics department requires the ability to provide education and assistance to staff members and efficiently use health information technology to support patient-centered care delivery. The goal is to maintain organizational success in quality, operational, technical, and regulatory initiatives.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
- Registered or Certified Medical Assistant
- 3-5 years of clinical practice experience in medical office workflow, EMR documentation, and leadership.
Required Skills:
- Ability to learn quality improvement methodology, including workflow assessment and workflow redesign
- Ability to learn the aspects and workflow of regulatory programs for quality initiatives Electronic medical record (EMR) education, optimization and support
- Must exhibit strong communication skills
- Possess the ability to function in a high paced clinical setting
- Highly developed skills using technology; including computerized healthcare information systems, word processing, spreadsheets and presentation applications
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Demonstrate critical thinking, analytical and problem‐solving skills
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple assignments simultaneously and produce expected results
- Ability to support clinical and operational staff in the use of the EMR, troubleshooting issues, and training
K ey Responsibilities
Assist in quality improvement methodologies (i.e. Gemba Walks, Value Stream Mapping, PDSAs) to promote organizational change.
- Maintain a knowledge of regulatory programs to include but not limited to Meaningful Use, Uniform Data System, Accountable Care Organization, Patient Centered Medical Home, and Hedis Measures.
- Assist with departmental QI Initiatives to include metric identification, interventions, evaluation, and outcomes.
- Committee Participation- Prepare and distribute Programs Committee packets, attend bi-monthly Programs Committee meetings and take and upload notes. Attend monthly QI Committee meetings; participate in process improvement and subcommittees (e.g., SDOH)
Coordinate and lead monthly QI Champions meetings, provide updates and training onboard new QI Champions and manage evaluations and HR updates.
- Site Visits-Coordinate with Practice Managers and Quality staff. Deliver clinic-level data and customized education
- Education & Training- Conduct Quality Sims Lab sessions for new hires. Provide Epic navigation and documentation training with QI Champions. Lead quarterly competency sessions and Boot Camps with QI Champions. Offer customized training as appropriate
- Collaborative Meetings- Participate in external collaborative initiatives with Value Based Partners.
- UDS Reporting-Update and educate staff on quality measures. Collect and report data on appropriate metrics. Attend educational sessions and office hours.
- Documentation & Communication- Maintain and update Clinical Documentation Guide annually. Host Quality Lunch and Learns for non-clinical staff. Contribute to the Quality Newsletter
- Other duties as assigned.
Work Environment and Physical Demand Related to the Position:
Must be able to sit and stand long periods of time; read and understand the English language, effectively maintain confidentiality of records and communicate with all levels of personnel. Ability to travel to organizational sites without driving restrictions.
