Plant Automation Maintenance Mechanic

How you'll contribute
- Tackle entry- to mid-level break/fix work and preventive maintenance to preserve uptime and equipment health.
- Dial in control devices and functional machine parts; repair/replace components; recondition or repair machine tools as needed.
- Spot and secure the parts, supplies, and repair materials required for efficient turnaround.
- Back up teammates and support the department per leadership direction.
- Work with maintenance industry standards and maintain 5S/housekeeping excellence.
- Advance continuous improvement—focus on processes, results, and cost reduction.
- When needed, set up and run basic machining operations (lathe, drill press, grinder, and other metalworking tools) and perform basic welding for part fabrication/repair.
- Keep detailed CMMS records and reference history to guide smarter repairs.
- Perform basic troubleshooting on control systems circuitry.
- Invest in your growth through technical self-study and skill-building.
- Follow every safety policy, rule, regulation, instruction, and guideline; stay situationally aware and call out unsafe acts or conditions.
What it takes
- High school diploma or GED.
- Associate degree with a technical emphasis OR 18 months of relevant general industry experience OR successful completion of the ATS Technician Progression Program.
- Solid grasp of basic electrical and mechanical systems, with hands-on repair ability.
- Ability to work confidently with basic hand tools.

Physical realities of the job
Expect to regularly stand and walk; use hands/fingers; reach with hands and arms; climb, ascend/descend, or balance at heights using a ladder or lift; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl in confined spaces; and talk or hear. You’ll occasionally sit. You must occasionally lift and/or move more than 50 pounds. Close and color vision are regularly required. You may occasionally face outside weather and risk of electrical shock. Work is typically in a factory setting that is usually very loud, with possible exposure to hazardous materials and/or greasy or slippery floors.
