PCU RN Job Details

• Location: Albany, NY 12208 (New York healthcare jobs)
• Unit: Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks (September 22, 2025 – November 14, 2025)
• Shift: 12-hour nights (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $2520 - $2580
• Employment Type: Locum tenens, travel nursing contract
• Dress Code: Navy blue scrubs required
• EMR: Epic EMR experience required
• Weekend block schedule: Available

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active RN license (New York State or compact license)
• Minimum 1 year of recent PCU or high-acuity adult care experience
• Current ACLS certification
• Proficiency in advanced hemodynamics, pressor titration, and medical/surgical patient care
• Epic EMR experience
• Ability to pass a nursing competency test within 24 hours of submission
• Excellent communication and critical thinking skills
• Up-to-date email required for onboarding and testing

PCU Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care to high-acuity adult patients (average load: 3 patients)
• Manage patients with respiratory failure, sepsis, closed head injuries, multi-system organ dysfunction, endocrine disorders, complex traumas, and surgical complications
• Administer and titrate antihypertensive, sedative, narcan, and thrombo-embolic drips per protocol
• Operate advanced monitoring equipment (a-line, CVP, EVD, ortho traction)
• Implement infection prevention protocols and manage respiratory support (HFNC, BiPap/CPAP, oxypendent)
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to optimize patient outcomes
• Document patient care accurately and efficiently using Epic EMR
