CVICU RN Job Details

• Location: Fayetteville, North Carolina (28304) – North Carolina nursing jobs
• Facility: Cardiac Surgery ICU (CVICU), Level III Trauma Center, teaching hospital
• Assignment Type: Travel RN, Locum Tenens
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks (8/25/2025 – 11/24/2025)
• Shift: 12-hour nights (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM), 3 shifts/week
• Hours per Week: 36
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Patient Ratio: 1:2-3
• Charting System: Epic
• Guaranteed Hours: Per contract policy
• Orientation: 24 hours
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $1940–$1990

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active RN license in North Carolina or compact state (Registered Nurse jobs in NC)
• Minimum 2 years of recent ICU experience (CVICU experience strongly preferred)
• Certifications required: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
• Proficiency with Epic charting system
• Ability to float to other ICUs or step-down units as needed
• Must pass advanced EKG exam as part of compliance
• Not accepting local candidates within 50 miles of facility
• References not required at time of submittal

CVICU RN Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality nursing care to adult and geriatric patients recovering from cardiac and vascular surgeries (CABG, valve repair/replacement, aortic repair, thoracic procedures)
• Monitor and manage patients on advanced life support equipment (ECMO, Impella, IABP, CRRT, ventilators)
• Administer emergency medications, titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips, and interpret dysrhythmias and ABGs
• Assist with bedside procedures such as bronchoscopy, ECMO cannulation, and chest tube insertion/removal
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including respiratory therapy, pharmacy, physical therapy, and rapid response
• Maintain accurate documentation in Epic and ensure compliance with infection prevention and isolation protocols
• Float to other ICU or step-down units as needed to support patient care
