The SAP Solutions Architect serves as the interface between business users and technology, utilizing a deep understanding and experience of ERP platforms, specifically SAP S/4 HANA, to ensure the overall solution design meets ongoing business requirements. The SAP Solution Architect leads Functional Analysts and seeks out opportunities for continuous improvement in the SAP business solution while supporting all aspects of the SAP solution, including Record to Report, Order to Cash, Procure to Pay, Plan to Deliver, and Extended Warehouse Management. Designs adaptable, comprehensive, technical, and procedural solutions which are appropriate for each business process. This position acts as the primary authority for the overall design and implementation of upgrades, releases, enhancements, and revisions while ensuring adherence to all design procedures for reliable operations. The SAP Solutions Architect applies a thorough understanding of the SAP data models and tables to help craft analytics and reporting solutions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Work with stakeholders to define SAP centric strategies and roadmap based on business and IT operational requirements.
- Lead high-level solution architecture design for S/4 HANA and respective peripheral applications and eco-systems.
- Evaluate and assess ERP solution options.
- Plan and estimate ERP solution implementation and deployment.
- Manage complex ERP/SAP program deliveries and status.
- Oversee functional analysts and seek out opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Work directly with technical team members and leaders to support appropriate solution design.
- Interface with the IT Infrastructure & Support organization to apply Incident Management Processes.
- Act as a member of the Change Control Board for the overall solution.
- Design, enhance and apply various Change Control and Release Management processes.
- Ensure compliance with Computer System Validation (CSV) and other regulatory requirements.
- Participate in Fit/Gap workshops to confirm solution requirements, critical gaps, and solution viability.
- Review and confirm future state solution meets end-to-end business process requirements.
- Support data migration & transformation activities.
- Support development of end-to-end test scenarios.
- Support the design and development of analytics and reporting solutions.
- Support development and review of end-user training materials.
- Attract, manage, and retain talent.
- Maintain requirements to keep SAP S/4 Hana FDA CFR Part 11 compliant.
- Find opportunities to deliver technology solutions and define solutions to help the Company achieve its goals.
- Create and manage within the capital and operational expense budgets for enterprise application licenses, maintenance, and projects.
- Create IT policies and Standard Operating Procedures when appropriate.
People Leader Responsibilities
The SAP Solutions Architect will carry out People Leader Responsibilities in accordance with the Company's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include:
- Direct supervision of 1-5 employees, both salaried and hourly, to include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance, rewarding, and administering corrective actions; and addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Required Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in related field (e.g., technology, business, finance, or supply chain).
- 15 years' experience gathering, translating, and applying business requirements for IT applications.
- 12 years' experience supporting in SAP Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP)
- 8 years' experience supervising or managing people.
- 5 years' experience leading full life cycle SAP implementations.
- Proficient in SAP and ERP implementation methodologies, including waterfall, Agile, Activate, etc.
- Proficient level of experience and knowledge of key SAP end to end processes including, Order to Cash, Procure to Pay, Plan to Deliver, and Record to Report.

- Ability to prioritize tasks, utilize time efficiently, and multi-task in an ever changing, fast-paced environment.

- Able to convey technical information and concepts to people at all technical skill levels.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
- Must have the ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with internal staff and management. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
- Must be able to demonstrate practical problem solving and trouble shooting skills. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Preferred Qualifications
Education:
- Master's degree in computer science, information sciences, or a business-related field.
Experience:
- Comprehensive knowledge of SAP S/4 HANA workstreams such as PPDS and EWM.
- Experience managing third party vendors and contractors, especially Application Management Service providers.
- Experience with Computer Systems Validation with familiarity in FDA CFR 21 Part 11 compliance.
- Experience in IT leadership role in a regulated industry.
- Experience managing enterprise architecture.
- Experience in implementing and managing release and change management processes.
