Job Summary:
The Front Office Receptionist in Greensboro, NC, will play a crucial role in ensuring accurate and timely patient registration using medical systems. This individual will verify patient insurance coverage using the facility's medical necessity tools and provide top-tier customer service to physicians, patients, family members, and other medical professionals in line with our established policies and procedures.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Welcome patients and visitors by greeting them in person or over the telephone, addressing inquiries, or directing them appropriately.
- Record patient arrival in the Practice Management System (EMR).
- Identify patients by date of birth and name, and create new accounts in the system as necessary.
- Prepare necessary patient paperwork prior to appointments.
- Contact patients with “No Show” appointments to reschedule and document appropriately.
- Optimize patient satisfaction and provider time through effective appointment scheduling and addressing patient concerns.
- Assist in emergencies by responding quickly and thoughtfully to patients in distress.
- Review and update patient information in the Practice Management System (EMR).
- Identify insurance eligibility and financial status, ensuring correct payor types are assigned and notifying the billing department when prior authorization is needed.
- Maintain a clean and organized reception area.
- Process patient copays and balances during check-in/out while protecting confidentiality of personal and financial information.
- Adhere to operational policies and procedures and report changes needed.
- Contribute to team efforts by achieving related results.
- Demonstrate superior customer service skills routinely.
- Answer the telephone in a timely and courteous manner.
- Communicate in a professional manner with patients, visitors, providers, and team members.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Practice Manager or Area Practice Manager.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma required; Associate's Degree preferred.
- 1 year customer service experience in a healthcare office preferred.
