Talbert, Bright & Ellington is seeking a Senior Accounting Manager - AEC Industry for our office located in Charlotte, NC .

The Senior Accounting Manager will be responsible for supporting all aspects of accounting for the operating company, including development, and implementation of accounting practices and procedures that support and drive the growth of the business. The successful candidate will exemplify entrepreneurial spirit and demonstrate exceptional leadership in driving accounting best practices. This opportunity will require professionalizing a lean accounting function to set it up for rapid organic and inorganic growth.

Must have experience using Deltek accounting software to manage project financials, including budgeting, invoicing, and reporting.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day accounting operations (GL, AP/AR, payroll, WIP, fixed assets)
• Oversee project-based revenue recognition and ensure alignment with ASC 606
• Own month-end close, perform account reconciliations, and ensure GAAP compliance
• Support in the preparation of financial statements including the balance sheet, income statement, statement of cash flows, and trial balance
• Provide day-to-day Deltek Vision support and create custom reports in Vision
• Support annual FAR overhead rate audit and rate submission with state DOTs
• Support annual financial audit
• Play a key role in acquisition integration and financial system alignment
• Support cash flow management and performance tracking
• Improve internal controls and drive automation initiatives
• Manage and develop a small, skilled accounting team
• Work cross-functionally on projects and initiatives; Complete ad-hoc assignments as needed
• Other duties and responsibilities as directed

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required (CPA preferred)
• 5+ years of experience as a senior-level accountant
• AEC industry experience is preferred
• Deltek software experience is required (Vision, Vantagepoint, or similar)
• Strong payroll experience required with ADP experience being a plus
• Strong knowledge of project accounting, WIP, and ASC 606 & 842
• Overhead Rate Audit & FAR Part 31 experience
• M&A integration and high-growth environment experience
