Sterile Processing Manager – Lead Healthcare Sterilization Operations

Key Responsibilities

• Assist the Director of Sterile Processing in managing all aspects of Central Sterile Processing Department operations
• Provide leadership and supervision to sterile processing technicians and department staff
• Ensure compliance with AAMI, AORN, and Joint Commission standards for sterile processing and infection control
• Oversee instrument sterilization, decontamination, and surgical instrument processing workflows
• Implement and maintain quality control programs and continuous improvement initiatives
• Coordinate with Operating Room, Surgery Department, and other clinical departments to ensure efficient service delivery
• Manage staff recruitment, orientation, training, and continuing education programs for sterile processing personnel
• Monitor department performance metrics and ensure adequate staffing levels
• Maintain aseptic technique protocols and infection prevention standards throughout the department
• Recommend equipment, supplies, and resources to support departmental needs
• Participate in hospital-wide quality improvement and patient safety initiatives

Required Qualifications

• Completion of Two Year Surgical Technology Program OR CRCST/CSPDT certification required
• Current CSPDT (Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician) or IAHCSMM (International Association of Healthcare Central Service Materiel Management) certification required
• Minimum three (3) years of hands-on sterile processing experience in a hospital or healthcare setting
• Minimum two (2) years of healthcare leadership, supervisory, or management experience required
• Strong knowledge of operating room instrumentation, surgical equipment, and medical devices
• Thorough understanding of aseptic technique, infection control principles, and sterilization methods
• Excellent supervisory, communication, and interpersonal skills
• Proven ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced healthcare environment
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality assurance
• Computer proficiency and experience with sterile processing tracking systems

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate's Degree or Bachelor's Degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Management, or related field
• Additional certifications in healthcare management or sterile processing leadership
