Insurance Invoice Accountant

Summary
Responsible for all lines and types of insurance premiums and commissions, providing accurate accounting and reporting of transactions for insurance services, ensuring financial reporting is in full compliance with GAAP accounting principles. Working with line of business and insurance carriers, brokers and agents to provide timely payment and/or reconciliation of insurance premiums and commissions.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Maintain and work within all appropriate controls to assure compliance with all Sarbanes Oxley requirements, including but not limited to, security in workflow, handling of checks and other funds, reporting of financial results.
2. Responsible for timely premium accounting and/or commission processing/reconciling of all lines and types of insurance premiums and commissions. Including working with less experienced teammates to train on best practices to improve efficiency and accuracy.
3. Research and resolve aged items due to/from insurance carriers, brokers and agents.
4. Work with and resolve inquiries from third party service providers and LOB client service associates associated with these transactions. Provide support and documentation as requested.
5. Assist with system conversions of acquired businesses and other special projects as requested.
6. Ensure the timely, proper and accurate reporting of insurance accounting transactions in a manner consistent with GAAP accounting principles.
Qualifications Required Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's degree or equivalent education and related training.
2. Good organizational and interpersonal skills.
3. Ability to communicate effectively with peers, and leadership within the Corporation as well as appropriate individuals external to the Corporation.
4. Demonstrated proficiency in basic computer applications such as Microsoft Office software products.
5. Ability to work without close supervision.
6. Three or more years of accounting experience.
Preferred Qualifications: :Prior experience in an insurance accounting role.

Pay: From $45,000.00 per year
