Job Summary
The Director of Engineering provides strategic and operational leadership for the Project Engineering, Telecommunications, and Benching departments. This role is responsible for driving efficiency, consistency, and scalability across engineering functions while ensuring adherence to established brand standards, quality expectations, and operational best practices. The Director serves as a senior escalation point, establishes and maintains standard operating procedures, and partners closely with cross-functional leaders to support organizational objectives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and oversight for multiple engineering teams, ensuring effective resource utilization, workload management, and operational efficiency
- Establish, document, and continuously improve standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistency, quality, and scalability across engineering functions
- Ensure all engineering teams understand, implement, and adhere to applicable brand standards, technical requirements, and client-specific guidelines
- Serve as a senior escalation point for complex technical, operational, and client-impacting issues, ensuring timely resolution and clear communication
- Collaborate with executive leadership and cross-functional stakeholders to align engineering initiatives with business priorities and client expectations
- Monitor departmental performance through defined metrics and reporting, identifying opportunities for process improvement and risk mitigation
- Support talent development by setting performance expectations, coaching leadership, and promoting a culture of accountability and continuous improvement
- Ensure compliance with company policies, industry standards, and applicable regulatory and brand requirements
Qualifications and Skills
- Proven leadership experience overseeing technical or engineering teams across multiple functional areas
- Strong operational and process-driven mindset, with experience developing SOPs and enforcing standards
- Ability to manage competing priorities and lead teams in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication, escalation management, and stakeholder engagement skills
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities
- Strong understanding of network engineering principles, including enterprise-scale LAN/WAN/Wi-Fi environments, routing, switching, firewalls, VPNs, and security best practices, enabling effective technical leadership and architectural oversight.
Preferred Experience
- Experience leading engineering or technical functions within telecommunications, infrastructure, or technology services organizations
- Background supporting project-based engineering environments
- Experience managing brand-driven standards, certifications, or client compliance requirements
Work Environment & Expectations
- Role requires regular interaction with executive leadership and cross-functional teams
- Availability outside of standard business hours may be required to support critical escalations
- Other duties may be assigned based on organizational and operational needs
