Job Overview:
Layton Services is seeking an Estimator to join our growing team in Newark, Ohio. The Estimator will prepare detailed cost estimates for civil and site development projects, supporting management and project teams in the bidding, planning, and execution phases. This role is ideal for someone with strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills who thrives in a collaborative construction environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Consult with customers, suppliers, and internal teams to discuss and formulate accurate project estimates.
- Confer with engineers, architects, owners, contractors, and subcontractors regarding cost changes and adjustments.
- Prepare estimates used by management for planning, organizing, and scheduling work.
- Analyze blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine project time, cost, materials, and labor requirements.
- Develop estimates for selecting suppliers and subcontractors.
- Provide value engineering and assist with change orders as needed.
- Attend weekly project meetings and contribute to discussions regarding cost and schedule.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Professional Engineering or a related field (preferred).
- 3+ years of experience in construction or site work estimation.
- Strong knowledge of blueprint reading and pipe systems (required).
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and email communication.
- AGTEK software experience required.
- Valid Ohio driver’s license and insurable under state regulations.
- Willingness to travel as necessary.
- Strong team collaboration and positive attitude.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, walk, talk, and listen frequently; occasional sitting.
- Ability to lift or move up to 25 pounds.
- Exposure to varying temperatures depending on project site conditions.
