CVICU Registered Nurse Job Details

• Location: Greensboro, NC 27401
• Healthcare Setting: Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CVICU)
• Assignment Type: Locum tenens / Travel Nursing Contract
• Start Date: September 9, 2025
• End Date: December 9, 2025
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks
• Shift: Night Shift, 3x12-hour shifts per week (19:00 – 07:30)
• Total Hours: 36 hours per week
• Weekend Requirement: 6 weekends (Saturday and Sunday) during contract
• Floating: May float between campuses as needed
• Patient Population: Adults and geriatrics
• Charting System: Epic EMR
• Estimated Weekly Salary Range: $1980 - $2030

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of recent CVICU nursing experience required
• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (North Carolina or compact state)
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Proficiency with Epic charting system
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred
• Experience managing patient ratios of 1:1, 1:2, and 1:3
• Must pass EKG exam (2 attempts allowed)
• COVID-19 and Flu vaccinations required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
• Compliance file completion by 12 noon EST the Wednesday prior to start date
• Education verification through third party required
• No local candidates within 50 miles of Greensboro, NC

CVICU RN Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality nursing care to critically ill cardiac patients, including post-cardiac surgery, post-cardiac cath, and those with advanced cardiac devices (LVAD, Impella, IABP, ECMO)
• Manage and monitor patients with multi-system organ failure, acute/chronic renal failure (CRRT), and respiratory failure
• Interpret and manage dysrhythmias, titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips, and administer continuous IV sedation
• Perform arterial line management, central/PICC line care, and blood product administration
• Assist with ventilator management, chest tube insertion/removal, and high-flow oxygen therapies
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including IV therapy, respiratory therapy, and physical therapy
• Float to other nursing units or campuses as needed
• Maintain accurate patient documentation using Epic EMR
• Participate in orientation and complete all required training modules
