Bar Manager

As a key member of our restaurant’s staff, our bar manager must ensure the bar operates smoothly, with sufficient stock and staff at all times. Must thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, maintaining a courteous demeanor with customers, as well as effectively make use of downtime. Strong leadership and personnel management skills should be accompanied by a customer service orientation and commitment to company values and image. The bar manager will ensure all health and safety procedures are met, and contribute to the overall success of the business.
Duties & Responsibilities: ______________________________________
- Communicate company policy, standards, and procedures to staff.
- Delegate duties and tasks to staff to meet objectives and maximize resources.
- Hiring and training staff to provide excellent service to patrons.
- Assess development needs of staff, training and coaching when needed in order to improve efficiency and job performance.
- Maintain regular communication with staff and management through meetings and discussions.
- Creating effective schedules and quickly resolving conflicts to ensure that the bar is well staffed during peak hours.
- Working with diverse personalities both on the staff and bar patrons.
- Diffusing tense situations between patrons or staff members.
- Maintaining a fun, safe atmosphere for bar patrons and staff.
- Monitor inventory of beverages to ensure adequate stock is maintained and to prevent excess pours or abuse from staff.
- Oversee the preparation of beverages and ensure quality of product served.
- Oversee cleanliness of staff and physical bar area, paying special attention to possible health hazards and code violations.
- Planning and taking part of promotional events.
- Working with vendors to bring in new products or develop new drink specials or ideas to increase business and revenue.
- Keep bar patrons and staff up to date on current products, specials, and future products or promotions.
- Report directly to the General Manager to discuss sales, beverage costs, customer issues or complaints, staff development, or promotional ideas and events.
Qualifications: ________________________________________________
Minimum of 2 years restaurant/bar management experience or 5 years of bar industry experience
Excellent computer, problem solving, and customer service skills.
Possess strong organizational, delegation and decision making skills.
Must be able to communicate clearly with managers, kitchen and dining room personnel and guests.
Ability to walk, stand, and occasionally carry heavy items in a fast-paced, stressful environment.
Willingness to work during peak hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Manager schedule usually consists of four 10 hr shifts with once a month working a five shift week.
